We Reveal Deepika Padukone’s “Less is More” Philosophy that Inspired Our CHP Routine

The “Less is More” philosophy has gained abundant popularity worldwide. Now, overwhelmed with the abundance of choices, people are gravitating toward simplicity to enjoy a better-quality life. People contented by the “less is more” approach advocate this simple and mindful philosophy for seeking balance in life. Embracing a mindful approach in life leads to holistic well-being. Therefore, the “Less is more” philosophy has influenced many aspects of life, including skincare.

“Growing up, like every young girl, I was hugely influenced by my mother. Watching my mother practice her ‘less is more’ skincare routine rubbed off on me too, and continues to be my go-to skincare routine. It is also the philosophy that defines all of the skincare products we create at 82°E”

said our co-founder Deepika Padukone.

Let’s explore the world of “less is more” to discover why this philosophy is the go-to approach for holistic well-being and radiant skin.

What is the “Less is More” Philosophy?

The “Less is More” philosophy is historically associated with modernism in architecture and design. The modernist movement focused on simplicity and clarity to deliver good architectural designs. This principle later gained momentum in the field of lifestyle and emerged as a life philosophy advocating minimalism.

The “Less is More” philosophy advocates simplicity and streamlining choices to eliminate distraction.

It teaches finding contentment in fewer things to curb chaos and streamline the balance of life. The streamlined approach of this philosophy stresses prioritising essential things, focusing on quality rather than quantity.

Enhancing Life With “Less is More”

More doesn’t always mean better, and less doesn’t signify scarcity, especially regarding the quality of life. More things cause distraction, leaving less time to focus on essential things in life. Keeping things minimal simplifies life so that you can enjoy it to the fullest. This is the essence of the “Less is More” philosophy. Here are the ways “Less is More” or minimalism improves your life:

Less Things, More Everything

Less things in your life or home, don’t mean living in paucity. It just emphasises a curated collection of essential things for a sustainable and efficient lifestyle.

Less Chaos, More Calm

The more things you have or do, the more chaotic your life becomes. Simplistic homes and life reduce clutter and chaos that leads to anxiety and stress. Reduced anxiety makes you calm and your life more fulfilling.

Less Excess, More Value

The profound philosophy of “Less is More” emphasises the reduction of excess to add value to your life. You have essential things in your life that add value to it. Thus, you lead a purposeful and satisfactory life.

Achieving Healthy and Radiant Skin with “Less is More”

Using multiple skincare products can sound glamorous. However, an elaborate and overcomplicated skincare routine is optional and impractical. It requires extra time, effort and money—without adding much to your skin’s health. In addition, too many products may cause more harm than benefit and disrupt your skin’s natural defence. As our co-founder Deepika Padukone has attested, all you need is a simple “Less is More” skincare routine with essential products to achieve healthy and radiant skin.

With that in mind, our R&D team devised our signature Cleanse, Hydrate, and Protect skincare routine. As a brand, we consider these the three main pillars of good skin health and design all our products to align with them.

  • Cleanse: Use a mild cleanser suiting your skin type to cleanse your face morning and night. Mild cleanser maintains the natural pH balance without stripping the natural oil and has a hydrating effect. You should do double cleansing at night. Double cleansing includes removing your make-up with a suitable oil cleanser and then cleansing with a mild cleanser.
  • Hydrate: Use a soothing moisturiser to hydrate your skin. You can add a suitable serum for deep hydration and targeting specific skin concerns.
  • Protect: Protect your skin from dullness, pigmentation and tanning with a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily. Ensure to reapply sunscreen every few hours.

Additionally, you can use a toner after cleanser for a revitalising effect. The toner cleans and closes your pores while maintaining the pH balance of your skin. Adding a face mask to your routine also helps exfoliate your skin, making it supple and radiant.

Try a Holistic Approach to Skincare

Holistic skincare is not limited to products. Your lifestyle, combined with your skincare, plays a pivotal role in transforming your skin. Beyond the “Less is More” skincare approach, you should practise the following to achieve holistic well-being:

  • Balanced Diet: A healthy and balanced diet will ensure your body and skin receive all the essential nutrients. A nutritious diet results in naturally glowing and healthy skin.
  • Hydration: Hydration is not limited to your moisturiser. Adequate hydration ensures your skin remains supple and plump.
  • Exercise: Regular exercise can improve your blood circulation, which can positively transform your skin's appearance.
  • Mindfulness: Practicing skincare mindfully and consciously can transform it into a daily mindfulness practice and help you feel grounded and recharged.

A mindful skincare regime is all about quality over quantity by embracing your true needs. With the “Less is More” philosophy, you can live every day consciously and with healthy, radiant skin.
