The Sunday Self-Care Series: Sneha Singhi’s Approach to Self-Care for a Joyful, Balanced Lifestyle.

1. What does self-care mean to you?

Self-care means taking a few minutes out for yourself from your busy schedule & doing something that you love or that brings you peace.

2. What motivated you to start a self-care routine and how has your routine changed since you first started?

I've always been inspired by my mom, be it inside the kitchen or outside it. Watching her follow a self-care routine inspired me to start my routine. Not much has changed since I started my routine except the fact that I try to keep it more simple & realistic now.

3. How has food played a role in your self-care practices?

I've seen my mom use whatever fruits she would serve us as face/hair masks & she always prefers eating simple home cooked meals. Being a chef, food plays an important role in my self-care practice as I love cooking/baking whenever I'm happy, upset or just having a difficult day.

4. If you had a day to yourself, how would you spend it?

If I had a day all to myself, I'd love to spend it in nature surrounded by all kinds of animals.

5. What's your approach to skincare? Can you share your thoughts on skincare routines and how yours has changed over time?

My approach to skincare is to keep it simple. Drink a lot of water, eat healthy, work out & stay happy & positive.

Earlier, I would use a lot of products on my skin, but over time, I've realised, keeping it simple is the best. I like using natural ingredients like besan, milk, yoghurt, honey, etc. in my skincare routine now.

6. What is one skincare hack that never fails you?

The one skincare hack that never ever fails me is to drink a lot of water during the day & keeping myself hydrated.

7. There are days where we all feel overwhelmed. What helps you center yourself?

My mother instilled in us a practice of journalling. So, on days when I'm overwhemed, I like to spend a little extra time journalling & writing about all the things I'm grateful for.

8. What are some of the conscious shifts you've made in order to take better care of yourself?

Some conscious shifts I've taken in life to take better care of myself is to not be upset or worried about things I cannot control. This helps me accept things easily.

  • My favourite self-care ritual that's free is playing & spending time with my furry friends.
  • The self-care ritual that's non-negotiable for me is journalling & working out.
  • My skincare ritual that feels like self-care is applying a sheet mask/face pack & sipping on a cold pressed juice or smoothie.
  • I feel most cared for by myself when I'm working out & creating recipes for Instagram.
  • A new self-care ritual I want to try is going on a phone detox & not being on my phone constantly.
  • A quote that gets me through a hard day is "have courage & be kind".
