Why We Created The 82°E Man Range: A Conversation With Our R&D Team

Our mission at 82°E has always been to create high-performance products that make skincare and self-care simple and joyful for all. So the next step in that journey was to create our Man range—tailored to men’s unique skin concerns while retaining the 82°E philosophy of Cleanse, Hydrate and Protect and the combination of Indian and powerhouse scientific ingredients.

To understand more about the range and its features, we sat down for a detailed chat with Dr. Rachna Rastogi and Anjali Gholap, our Heads of R&D.

Q: Is a man’s skin different from a woman's? How?

R&D: Yes, men’s skin is different and therefore they have unique concerns as compared to women. Men have a higher sebum content in their skin, as sebum production is highly influenced by sex hormones. Skin pigmentation and thickness are significantly higher, facial wrinkles are deeper, and facial sagging can be more prominent in the lower eyelids of men.

Further, men's cheek skin is tougher due to facial hair and the consistent use of shaving products.

Q: Both products we have launched are multi-purpose. What was the thinking behind creating such versatile products?

R&D: The 82°E Man range has been designed to simplify our signature Cleanse, Hydrate and Protect (CHP) skincare routine. For example, the Face, Body and Beard Cleanser with Arjuna and Betaine is designed to effectively cleanse the face, beard, and body while conditioning the beard. The Moisturiser with SPF40 PA+++ and Gotu Kola and Ceramides is formulated with broad-spectrum sunscreens to provide hydration along with UVA and UVB protection.

This ensures that the skincare routine is simple and quick to practice while retaining all the important requirements for healthy skin.

Q: How did you factor men’s unique skin concerns into your formulations?

R&D: To help with skin toughness, our Moisturiser is formulated with Gotu Kola, which is packed with antioxidants that help the skin retain moisture, and Ceramides, which help to replenish the skin’s natural lipid levels to trap moisture in the skin.

To target roughness, our Face, Body and Beard cleanser has Arjuna, which helps hydrate the skin, prevent skin aging, and reduce roughness, and Betaine, which ensures even skin tone and replenishes dry skin and hair with moisture.

Q: What are some key highlights of the two products?

R&D: The Face, Beard and Body Cleanser is a multi-tasking conditioning cleanser that leaves the face and body feeling fresh and cleansed and the beard conditioned. It is clinically proven to provide an instant refreshing feel in one application (96% of users) and to provide intense hydration to their face and beard in two weeks (100% of users).*

The Moisturiser with SPF 40 PA+++ has a lightweight, high-performance formula that hydrates the skin, helps make it look brighter, and leaves it soft and supple. Our clinical results prove this: 100% of the users agree that it helps in hydrating their skin in 1 application, and 96% of the users agree that it makes their skin look younger in 1 week.*

*Based on a consumer study done on 51 men in 4 weeks. Individual results may vary.

Q: What would you recommend to men who are beginning their skincare routine?

R&D: We recommend that someone who is just beginning their skincare journey should start simple, and focus on the main pillars of good skin health: Cleanse, Hydrate and Protect. Following a simple routine based on cleansing and moisturizing the skin followed by sun protection helps manage most common skin concerns. The 82°E Man range is designed to help you look after your skin as easily and effectively as possible, in just two steps.

More FAQs

What are the benefits of arjuna for the skin?

This native plant has been widely advocated in Ayurveda for its health benefits. In skincare, arjuna can moisturise the skin and protect its natural barrier from environmental agents, including dust particles. It also slows signs of aging and ensures soft, supple skin.

Does betaine help with anti-ageing?

Yes, studies have shown that betaine helps balance moisture levels in the skin, ensure an even skin tone, and therefore slow down the signs of ageing.

What are the benefits of using a moisturiser with sunscreens?

Our skin is constantly exposed to the sun’s UVA and UVB rays, which can cause premature skin aging and damage. Our moisturiser perfectly integrates the hydrating effects of a moisturising cream with broad-spectrum sunscreens, facilitating healthy and, glowing skin.

When should I use the moisturiser in my routine?

Apply the moisturiser after cleansing the face, 15-20 minutes before sun exposure.
